PIPPIN tells the story of a young prince on a death-defying journey to find meaning in his existence. Will he choose a happy but simple life? Or will he risk everything for a singular flash of glory? The show is noted for many Broadway standards including “Magic To Do,” “Corner of the Sky,” “Glory,” “No Time at All,” “Morning Glow,” and “Love Song.” The original production of PIPPIN, directed by Bob Fosse, premiered on Broadway in 1972. It won five Tony Awards and five Drama Desk Awards, and ran for close to 2000 performances before closing in 1977.
PIPPIN is becoming a Broadway legend, full of extraordinary acrobatics, wondrous magical feats and soaring songs from the composer of Wicked, this show promises to lift you up and leave you smiling. This new production is the winner of four 2013 Tony Awards® including Best Musical Revival. Hailed as “an eye-popping, jaw-dropping extravaganza” (NY1), it’s described as unlike anything Broadway has ever seen!
PIPPIN is one young man’s journey to be extraordinary.
One of the stars of PIPPIN is Sasha Allen, cast as “Leading Player.” Many may recognize her from NBC’s competition show, “The Voice.” Allen rose to the top five in season four; her performances reached the top of iTunes charts every week. Previously, she co-starred in the independent cult feature, Camp. Mother of Sierra and Phoenix, Allen made her Broadway debut as Dionne in Hair, reprising the same role that she played in London.
Her television credits include “Power” and the CBS drama “Blue Bloods.” A lover of music, Sasha Allen regularly tours with a number of pop stars including Christina Aguilera.
