Easterseals Bay Area provides individualized behavioral services to people with autism, developmental disabilities and special needs, enabling them to maximize their independence. Easterseals Bay Area has been serving the community and families with disabilities over the last 90 years, starting with crippled children and now, the leading provider of autism services in the Bay Area.
According to 2014 statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):
• About 1 in 68 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
• ASD is reported to occur in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups
• ASD is about 4.5 times more common among boys (1 in 42) than among girls (1 in 189)
• About 1 in 6 children in the US had a developmental disability in 2006-2008, ranging from mild disabilities such as speech and language impairments to serious developmental disabilities, such as cerebral palsy and autism.
Easterseals Bay Area (ESBA) offers early intervention services with a comprehensive, research-based treatment program for children from birth to three years of age diagnosed with or showing signs of a developmental delay, or who may be considered high risk of having a developmental delay.
Celebrating nearly a century of continuous service in the Bay Area, the 90th Anniversary Spring Gala and Benefit will feature recent Oscar winner Janelle Monae (MOONLIGHT, HIDDEN FIGURES), who has graciously agreed to engage with local children from all backgrounds to show her support of them and the work being done on their behalf.
