New book on Kevin Durant, out now

Everybody has something to say about Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors basketball team—be they allies, competitors, pontificators, talk show hosts, retired players or the man and woman on the street. The “theys” of the world have more to say than the inveterate small forward, whose pursuit of greatness makes him a champion on and off the court. Durant’s longstanding commitment to the sport he masters stems way back to his early beginnings in the nation’s capitol—the 6’9” NBA champion and Most Valuable Player is a “put up or shut up” kinda guy.

Well, there’s more to KD–as he is often referred to–than most would ever know and details of his life–from then to now–are chronicled in the new book, “Kevin Durant’s Relentless Pursuit to be THE GREATEST” by Marcus Thompson II.

Thompson describes Durant as “the skinny kid with everything: height, length, touch around the basket, basketball IQ, shot-making ability and a passion for the game.” The authors continues, “Two championships and two finals MVPs with Golden State, KD is also met with jeers and the endless animosity from just about everywhere—fans, ex-players, the media, etc. The move to Golden State made him a lightning rod, both revered and despised. This once-in-a-generation player has the hunger for the game, is passionate and very sensitive to the criticism and noise that continually surrounds him.”

Thompson surmises that equally, Durant’s humanity fuels his work as a philanthropist, a visionary entrepreneur and worthy ambassador of the game.

Now, KD has a serious sports injury that has focused the world on his next steps. As onlookers await his recovery and return, to the game that sets him apart from many would be contenders, might we suggest you pick up a copy of the new book and get an insider’s perspective of KD. Kevin Durant’s Relentless Pursuit to Be THE GREATEST is published by Atria Books, ISBN: 9781501197819.
